P.c does not shut down

When I shut down my p.c It Does not completely shut Down.
It Logs of Windows XP But then freezes. ( I think)
Can any anyone help me out.
 
check the event viewer for any problems it might have listed

its in the control panel under Administrative Tools
 
Also clean up your start up and remove anything you don't really need. You could have a program causing the PC to hang at shutdown. Try using msconfig to disable all your start up items and see if your PC still hangs when you shut it down. Then you can renable the itmes one by one till the problem returns.
