p3 psu

i need to replace the psu in my old computer
it is a 800 mhz with the p3 processor
can anyone tell me what psu i should buy?
there are so many i dont want to pick the wrong one?

It's hard to say with such little information, but I'm pretty certain it'd be a typical ATX power supply. 20 or 20+4 pin would work. Just look on newegg.

I'd suspect this would work. Check how many watts your previous PSU has. I'd at least match it if you knew it worked well with the computer.

wow thats got to be the cheapest psu ever. at least get a 350-400 watt so you have plenty of power, cause 300 is just crap. (no offense)

You know many current computers still use 300-350w power supplies. I know my Compaq with a Athlon 64 3700 had one of the two.

A 350W ATX 20 pin is plenty for a P3 800. You can practically run those things off a car battery.

It's called a UPS Hehe, well, I guess most of those are a good bit smaller than a car battery

Hmmm. I dunno. The one I have sitting here beside me is a fair size bigger than a 1000 CCA battery, and the two I just got rid of were about the same size as a battery. This one is a fair bit heavier too. Holy cow. I think they put lead in the bottom of it.

Seriously though, those P3s have a TDP of about 25W, and video cards of that generation also didn't draw anywhere near as much as they do today. You'll be fine with the aforementioned Hipro, and for a system this old cost really has to take priority over quality.

What they should have done is made this dumb thing with detachable wheels and handle. I damn near killed myself carrying it in here. Ugh.
