if your playing farcry 64 bit vs farcry 32 bit, the amd would most likely run better.
But that again has nothing to do with the address bus size. Amd would naturally win that fight anyway (on k8's)
We were saying if itsa 64 bit program a 32bit CPU cant run it. I think.
of course not, no more than your old 16bit os would run a 32bit app
Then how come people say AMD 64's are better for gaming even though all games now are only 32 bit, since you say it doesnt make a difference since no appolications run in 64 bit?
a. The people saying it are wrong
b. AMD's are better for gaming generally, when compared to similar class intels
c. 64 bit games/apps are on there way
Well he's right and wrong at the same time, see below
i think because amd 64 has onboard memory controller...correct me if im wrong.+
True the AMD 64 has on-die memory controller but that is completely unrelated to the fact that it is 64 bit. It's just built into the architecture.
Also most of the sempron s754 are 32bit and they have on-die memory controller. (there are some newer models with 64bit).
The fact of the matter is that a cpu beng 32bit or 64bit has nothing to do with the performance of the cpu, and never will. Maybe in the future when we need to address more than 4gb of ram, even then its arguable where that performance increase come from (cpu or ram)
