p4 630 3.0ghz vs pD 930 3.0ghz

hi everyone

well i have a quik question

i know that currently games do not support using both cores of a dual core processor, so i want to compare one of the cores of the pentium D 930 to the p4 630.

Can anyone lead me to information such as benchmarks or your knowledge that would indicate how much better teh 930 is than the 630 at gaming and runinig onther applications

thanks

:)

They both have 2MB L2 Cache, and they both operate at 3Ghz. The only major difference is that the 930 is 65nm, which means that it runs cooler and more efficient.

If your debating between what one to get, get the Pentium D 930.

yea the Pentium D is basically the same thing only two cores, and no hyperthreading. basically there is absolutely no disadvantage with upgrading to the Pentium D because hyperthreading is sort of dual core only worse...
get the Pentium D if you must go intel. haha... i like AMD personally.

Isn't one dual core and one single core?

I would also go with the Pentium D.

yes the pentium 4 is single core and the pentium D is dual core. as everyone else said i would get the pentium D it will be great for dual core games in the future and good for multitasking now and in the future.

he's asking the difference between a P4 630 and one of the Pentium D 930's cores.

You must be one of the biggest AMD fanboys i've ever seen...

sorry i worded it wrong... i meant i dont like pentium 4 or pentium D.
theres nothing wrong with core duo's though :) lol

yes but doesnt the 3.0 pentium d have each core at 1.5 and the p4 is one core at 4 i know it is said that u dont devide the clock speed but thats only with amd ex 2.0 is 2.0 each core but with intel i herd u are suposed to divide them because they just put 3.0 becaue most people that bu ythere prossesors no offence to anyone arent very knolegable on cpus any i was gonna buya a pentium d until i became aware of the advantages of a amdx2

No, the Pentium D's are 3.0Ghz for each core.

either way, the pentium D is a better chip than the pentium 4 as long as they're at the same clocks...
there is absolutely NO performance cut when adding cpu cores, its that simple.
if the cores aren't the same... say more or less cache, or different frequency, then its different...
but in this case, the dual core is definitely better.

actually Quake 4 utilizes dual core quite nicely...
