P4 in a P3 ok???

is it cool to use a pentium 4 type motherboard in a pentium 3 system?? and is it crucial to use a fan in a set-up?? im a really big newbie wen it comes to systems and computers! thanks for ya help!:)
 
You can put any mother board in any case (assuming it's big enough) but you can't put a pentium 4 in pentium 3 motherboard or vise versa. I'm not sure which you are asking when you say "pentium 3 system."

Every CPU now should have a fan on the heatsink, some prebuilts may use a duct system to channel the air over the CPU's heatsink
 
Do you have a form factor for the motherboard and the case? It is best to do a little research before you start a project so you know what you are working with. Oh and by the way Welcome to ComputerForum.
 
umm i wanted to put a motherboard meant for a pentium 4 in a pentium 3 set-up would this work? thats my question!
