A friend of mine just told me he had purchased a new socket 478 Cpu for his machine .....so i said okay what what you purchased.

he said he went from a

Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott) overclocked to 3.7Ghz 1Mb L2 Cache

to a

Intel pentium 4 (Northwood) overclocked to 3.3Ghz 512Kb L2 cache.

now im slightly confused here because to me it looks like a downgrade...his new cpu is running slower and has half less l2 cache as his old presscott ,yet he says his new northwood seems faster ?

Hmmm.... maybe he reformatted after installing? :P

LOL i seriusly need to replace this machine now,But i dont want to buy a brand spanking new machine just yet.

so maybe if its cheap enough il buy it off him,Depending on if he sells or not.

It's called wishful thinking :D. The only "upgrade" might be a cooler running processor.

yeah it does run cooler...like 10c cooler lol on idle.

but he tried running COD4 on it today and it crashed..maybe because he overclocked too much:D
