WHAT KINDA DIFFERENCE? I WAS TOLD MY DELL DIMENSION DESKTOP REQUIRED A 512KB CHIP

WHAT HAPPENS IF I USE SAME CHIP, BUT 1MB L2 CACHE?

DOES MACHINE WORK SLOWER, DOESNT WORK, DOESNT MATTER?

ANY INFO APPRECIATED, THANKS

sorry about caps:(

It sounds as if the chip with 512k of cache is gonna be a P4 Celeron CPU and the chip with the 1MB of cache is going to be a true P4 chip. Most Intel compatable board that support Celeron chips also support Pentium chips as well. Try Googling the make and model of your motherboard?

What motherboard does your Dell have? Usually if a board doesn't support a CPU that uses the same socket, it's because of the bios. However I'm not sure if you can flash a Dell's bios.
