p4 vs dual core

Currently, I have a P4 2.8GHz processor without hyperthreading. I'm thinking of upgrading to this:

CPU
CPU Type: Intel Pentium dual-core
CPU Speed: T2080(1.73GHz)
CPU FSB: 533MHz
CPU L2 Cache: 1MB

Is that even worth it?

I'm switching from a desktop to a laptop. I just wanted a comparison of the two CPUs. I guess I should have said switch and not upgrade; I don't know.

@IntelCrazy so the dual core is considerably faster than the P4?

Same FSB but basically that could be considered as 3.46Ghz b/c of dual-core, do NOT think of it that way, there are factors that play in that. It will be a lot better for multi-tasking and the L2 Cache is twice the size of the old P4.

Do you want Linux? Also, I would suggest that you upgrade to 1GB of ram. 1GB is basically the bottom line right now.

It is a laptop processor, and is pretty decent, better then your current one. However it's not a Core 2 Duo, and you may want to upgrade to one of those if you can.

yeah i wouldnt sugest that one, unless your budget/current laptop/ girlfriend (hahaha) wont allow you to
