p55 (intel) vs 790x (amd)

They are both the same. The P55 and 790x are limited to 16 total lanes. So that means two slots each at 8x. This is not to be concerned about, as the only card on the market in crossfire that takes a slight hit in performance at 8x would be a 5870. Even two 4890's are not bottlenecked by 8x whatsoever.

BTW, just wanted to point out though that most P55 boards, if you get a decent one can do both SLI and crossfire. The 790x only supports crossfire no SLI.

I would go P55 if it comes down to that because ANY cpu on a P55 socket 1156 platform will outperform ANY current AMD desktop processor.
