p55 ram/cpu choice

Hello, so I have been checking out newegg and I have found some pretty sweet combo deals with the ASUS maximus formula 3 for under $600. I am stuck between two decisions. I can either do:

I don't see the point of ASUS Maximus III...
I would suggest you get a cheap $160 mobo...

Anyway i7 860 > i5 750...
So get RAM under $125

Or get the first ASUS Maximus III with Geil and i7 860... Total $615...

hmm thanks. Well that's some good ram... I wish I could take the $615 option but thts too much money atm. Well do those two processors really make THAT much of a difference? The ram ik does but the i7 and i5s only difference is that he i5 dosent have hyperthreading.. And you suggested a cheaper board. Foxconn inferno katana any good? Oh and btw, what would the differnce be between that and any lower board?

I am not sure how much different between higher end mobo vs mid range mobo, because I don't feel it as I am not doing extreme overclocking...

Foxconn have some problem with their socket previously, I don't know if they fix the issue...

Are you going to crossfire/ SLi?

I am not using cf/sli. And btw thanks for the help. ive just gotten a bit of an increase in money and also was able to find the i7 860 cheaper elwhere so i can now afford it
