Hi everybody,

Since a couple of days my Desktop PC doesn't boot up anymore. I have an 2 year old Packerd Bell. Everything worked fine and it never really crashed before.

But last week when I was surfing on the internet, suddenly the screen freezed and there was nothing was nothing I could move or click on. So I turned the computer off by holding the powerbutton. When I turned it back on there was an option to choose wether I want my computer to boot up normally or in save mode. I thought nothing really could be wrong so i chose the first option. But when it logged in succesfully the screen freezed again and when I tried to start it up again I saw nothing but a black empty screen. The computer makes noise when I push the power button, and it stays on with no result until I turn it off again.

I hope one of you has had the same problem or knows a solution for mine, because I really want to solve this problem.

Thanks,

Jeroen

The computer makes noise when I push the power button, and it stays on with no result until I turn it off again.

If the noise is a beep, beep, beep coming from what sounds like a small speaker inside the computer then what your hearing is a beep code that's telling you something is wrong with your computer hardware.

If it's just a continous non-stop beeping then you have bad RAM and you will need to replace it which will probably cost you between $30-$100.

Which operating system are you using? If you are using Windows XP, read this article.

This may seem silly, but make sure your monitor is plugged in.

It could be that your graphics card is failing, try to plug your monitor into your motherboard and disconnect the graphics card.

Your RAM could also be having problems. Clean your RAM, and try booting up with only one stick of RAM. Use a program like Memtest86+ to test your RAM for problems.
