Paging file problems.

I'm not even sure if this is the correct section to post this but here goes.

In the last few days I have noticed that my PC has been becoming noticabley more and more sluggish to the point at which it reaches virtual standstill.

I ran adaware and spybot and found and deleted a few data miners. This has not solved the problem at all and my PC is still just as sluggish.

Earlier today I got a windows XP warning message informing me that the paging file resources are running dangerously low. I had a look at the windows task manager and discovered that my system is consistantly using 1.15GB of virtual memory.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this problem and offer any solutions that don't require me to bastardize my system settings.

I have now set my virtual memory to 2048MB.

Thanks in advance!

Some things to try
1. Try letting windows manage the page file
2. Reboot the machine (that usually clears the pagefile)
3. Disable system restore
4. Ignore it unless its directly causing problems

Already tried 1.
Rebooting helps for a short while but this jam-up again shortly after connecting to the net.
System restore is already disabled.
Can't ignore it because it's causing too much sluggishness.

I started another thread because I think I know the problem.
