saw an ad on local CL from some peeps personalizing laptops out of a flee market.

besides the obvious copyright infringement going on here, these people suggest that with their air brushing, your laptop will now be worth more.

i fail to see how that makes sense. :P

here's some pictures of what they do:

this might be a good way to deter theft, making your laptop easier to recognize on the street, but increase its value? LOL :D

what u think?

That michael jackson one is scary as hell. i think it would lower it if anything, unless it's an old, ugly laptop and you painted it a shiny black or something more generic.

personal value goes up but all round value just like a car if you get a custom paint job the only way to resell it is if you find someone with the exact same taste as you... otherwise neat idea

Guess that I'm the first that going to say that the value goes up. I guy and sell a LOT of electronics, and I've found that anything that has been cosmetically altered, as long as it has been done well, sells for more than an identical item that hasn't. People just like having things that are "unique", because then others will notice, and people like attention. I'm sure that Hello Kitty laptop pictured above, if sold on eBay, would sell for at least $100 more than whatever the average selling price of that model is.
