Palit GTX 460 1Gb Sonic Platinum Benchmarking

Sounds like the motherboard tray does not have perferations for the protruding slots of the rear i/o panel of the card to penetrate. If this is the issue, the easiest fix for this i think would be to remove the components from the case and to use a dremel or similar to remove a small portion of the motherboard tray in that area, in order to allow the card to fit. Pictures would be very beneficial though.

Will give that a shot tomorrow. Cheers

Yes bomber that is basically what seems to be the problem. However no one else I can find (by Google) who has this problem with GTX460 and the Scout case. The motherboard which is an ATX has a gap for the cards i/o panel to drop past but not the case tray. Will take a photo tomorrow. Thanks all.

One thing i would suggest, have you tried to angle the card in? Sometimes the slots that are punctured for the IO bracket of the card are not aligned well when the case was being formed, i've run into the issue only a couple of times though. Also, take the right hand side panel of the case off and ensure there is nothing behind the motherboard tray that is interfering with the IO bracket.

If that was it, he would have the opposite problem. The card would fit the case fine, but would not go all the way in the PCIe slot. Board would be to low.

I would say the problem is, he needs to bend the tabs either in or out on the card to slip into the slots on the motherboard tray.

As the problem was as simple as both Bomber and StrangleHold were aluding to it must be obvious this is my first time building a rig

Only salvation I guess is I just about worked this out myself this afternoon. I guess linkin you must have done this yourself but it probably was common sense so you didn't think to mention :P Its not a good case for SLI is it, with the second pci16 just above the psu and audio port?

Yeah Buzz, heavy loss today though but the Ospreys had a good try with S. Williams' kick and chase.

Once again thx for the support. I'll visit this forum often :good:

Hehe, we all make mistakes. When I first started i had trouble with those damned front panel connects :o

funny thing was i forgot to take out a standoff when i changed motherboards in my old case, ended up shorting out the motherboard, and couldnt figure out what was going on until i took a min to take the board out again and doh...extra standoff was touching the board where it shouldnt be...kinda the opposite of no standoffs, but yea those are very important...
