Ok to check if your PSU is dead or not. Unplug the PSU from the motherboard and everything else. Then take a paper clip or something, put one end in the green wire pin, and one end in the ground (black wire pin) and see if it turns on (make sure the switch it turned on and plugged into the wall). This way you can determine if it's your PSU messing up.
i plugged in all of the fans, including the heatsync and fan for the cpu. so it ruled out for dead MB????? yay or nay? bcause my CPU fan installs through the MB

Just think about it. Your harddrives and maybe your fans are directly connected to your powersupply. So if absolutely NOTHING works in the computer, either your powerswitch connector is wired wrong, so your powersupply isn't getting the turning on signal, or your powersupply is broken.
Do the wire thing with the powersupply, that will tell you if your PSU is broken.
but when i turn on my pc, everything works. the cd drive opens, the fans turn on, and the fans are routed through the MB. but since i don't have ram or a video card, it dosent do anything except make noise
well i wasn't sure and it only took about an hour for me to identify the prob and fix it. i just wasn't sure if i had fully fixed it. anyways, thanks for everyones help.
