I have a Visioneer 7100 scanner with Paperport 7.0 when I try to open paperport I get this message

PAPRPORT caused an invalid page fault in
module RPCRT4.DLL at 016f:7fbd0894.

When I press o.k. It closes the program. It has worked great in the past. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it with no luck.

I am running windows 98 SE.

Thanks for the help

Yes, I downloaded these from windows update on microsoft.com

Directx 9.0c End-User Runtime
Security Update for microsoft Data Access Componets 2.8 {KB911562}

My guess would be that it's the Security Update download is now interfering with the scanner. Have you tried checking for newer drivers?

for paperport.

go check the manufacture site.

you can try an uninstall. delete remaning folders and what not. run a registry cleaner to clean out your registry, then reinstall it again. you can find free registry cleaners at www.download.com

Found nothing for me at paperport. I downloaded a registry cleaner from download.com and tried the uninstall run cleaner and reinstall with no luck. I'm still getting the same message in my first post.

Checked both sites and Paperport site. They have no new drives for this model. Is there some way that I can replace the Security Update for microsoft Data Access Componets 2.8 {KB911562} that is probably the cause? I would be more than happy just to have it back the way it was.

Thanks

Usually with Windows Security Updates there is no way to remove them once they are installed. So, you could reformat, or just get a new scanner...

Was unable to try that idea as I had problems with some genuine windows thing before I could download it. I'm still at a complete loss here :(

Was able to download and install the SP1 patch. Other than my computer being more quite and seems to be running more smooth, there is no change in the error message from the first post.
