parallel port

hello im new here and got a problem, i was wondering if any one could help me out

ive just brought a parallel port pic card as my one on my motherboard doesnt work and the new one seems to be giving me the same error cannot initilize port driver, i think some thing may be interfearing with the driver/device but dont no what, ive deleted all the printers but still no luck. any one have any ideas what it could be?
 
If you have another PCI slot, try moving the card. Was there any software with it? I don't think you'd need drivers, but it might be worth a shot...

Or an alternative may be using a USB to parallel cable.
 
but its the same error as with the parallel port on my motherboard, all drivers and every thing is installed and working in device manager, but i think some thing is interfearing with the port but i dont no what
 
some thing conflicting as ive got the same settings on my sisters comp but here parallel port is working but mine isnt
 
ive tried to change irq using the web site but i dont no which ones my parallel port and on the parallel port pic it says no conflicts
 
ive got both a parallel port on the motherboard and a pic card but both with the same error, im running vista
