parallel to usb cable epson printer to laptop

I have attached my laptop to an old Epson printer via a parallel, USB cable but I cannot get it to print.
Details: Windows 2003 XP Epson printer stylus color 460.
Pending file says error. Please note, have not a clue about these things.
 
Have you installed a driver for the printer? Is there one available? Did you install the driver for the parallel to usb cable?
