If you went with a cheaper case, PSU, and cooler, you can elect for a i7 7700k instead.

Or alternatively, Ryzen is an option at that price range.

I just built a very similar machine for my Son, (specs in my signature), and have to say it's a very competent mid-range gaming rig. The 7700K can run a bit warm at full load so the H100i would probably be a good choice. I went with the Cryorg H7 which is sufficient to keep temps below 80 at stock clocks under load with Prime95, however, I likely couldn't OC much with air cooling and keep temps below 100. If you're not going to OC water cooling really isn't necessary. If you're going to spend $180 on a case I'd at least consider the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe. This was my first build with a Phanteks and I was quite impressed with the quality and the engineering. My Sons loves the RGB illumination also. Using a RGB Gigabyte MB and keyboard everything pulsates with color.

Despite the fact I have a stupidly overpriced full-tower..I'd say save some coinage and get a more practical case. Even get a cheaper air cooler for that 7700K, they do run warmer but my air cooler keeps mine easily within operating temps, and I've overclocked mine to 4.9Ghz daily driver.

Great PSU, I use the same one and full modular is the way to go!!!!Runs my 1080TI like a dream!~

If you went with a cheaper case and cooler, for the $100 savings you could then grab an EVGA SC gtx 1080 GPU for $559.99 at newegg.com

Slightly weaker CPU for gaming but with a 1080 so it will be faster overall. You can go with the H100 if you want to spend the extra 30$ over your initial price, but the NH D15 is pretty much the best air cooler out now.
