Hello,My friend has a pc with windows XP professional, one day she turned on the pc and got an error message that said,

''windows could not start bc the following file is missing or corrupt
system32 / DRIVERS / pci. sys''

I cant boot into windows at all, I have a rescue disk that has PartedMagic, how do I replace the missing files back into windows with this software.
 
Parted magic isn't gonna help you with this. Perform a repair install with an XP pro disc.

If you really wanted to you could try copying pci.sys from another XP machine onto the damaged computer using Parted magic and a flash drive but I recommend the repair install.

I also recommend getting off XP.
