Partions

do i have to partition a drive or can i just use it all as one drive
You only really need to partition your drive for mutiple OS`s. Or to divide you HDD for what eva reason. So you only need one main partition that uses all the HDD space for the OS, etc..

so partitioning is not just for when you want multiple drives you have to do it even if you only want it as one drive. so its just the formating process.

YEP ! when you are installing a OS you have to creat a partition to install the OS to, i think for XP its NTFS and win98 its FAT 32. But im not no expert on that. You might want a second opinion.

Not true. Formatting and partitioning are different.

With Windows XP you can use either NTFS or FAT32. (That's formatting)

i only partition to keep important files off the OS partition, that way in case my os crashes or gets a virus my files are still safe! :D
