Partition dissapeared :S can anyone help me?

Hi, i posted a thread about my HD a couple of months ago about a problem with my hard drive and windows xp, i sorted out the problem but a similar problem has occured with my newly installed windows vista ultimate. Its a 200gb hard drive but i am only getting 52gb from it. It was fine until ysterday when i had to re-install windows vista and format my hard drive, there were two partitions to the drive, now there is only one. My question basically is this, is there any way to bring the other partition back without having to format again.

Did the other partition contain data?
If not open any partitioning program and you will probably find it as unpartitioned space.
so format it and create a drive for it
