partition mess - data lost ?

Ok, I had this problem. Please help me.
My brother created a 5Gb Linux partition in his 20Gb hard disk with Partition Magic. He didn´t use it at all.

I downloaded Aefdisk 2.0 (a partition manager) to erase that partition to get back to the 20Gb total HD capacity, and executed this lines:

aefdisk /delall (it erased all partitions, left a clean master boot record)

and then

aefdisk 1 /pri:0:0c (which created a primary Windows partition with all the available space of the HD)

if I excecute the /show command, I can see this line in the table :

1 0c Fat32 LBA 19461Mb **

The problem now is that the computer won´t boot from this HD. If i boot from a floppy, then I type c:[enter], I can see the c:\ prompt, but if i try to see the directory tree (dir [enter]), I receive an error message.

I even tried to recover the files installing this HD as a slave in another computer, and still couldn´t even gain access to it.

I have very important files in that HD and need to recover them ASAP. Please help me !

What OS are you running? From what you said it seems like you just deleted all the partitions including where you have your files. If this is the case there is software you can use to try to recover the data. I used a program (don't remember the name off hand) that recovered everything from a FAT32 drive "accidentally" reformatted to NTFS.

I booted with a Win98 floppy and executed the program from the same disk. I think I have actually deleted all the partitions. But apparently I created a new one. I didn´t take so long, are my files still in the HD ?
How can I recover them ? Should I set this HD as slave in a working PC to recover the data ?
Thanks a lot

You should be able to recover the data and yes I would do it using it as a slave drive in another PC. There's a lot of software out there that can do it (just google "hard drive recovery") but some of them are fairly expensive. It kind of depends on how much the data is worth to you. You might want to wait to see if anyone else has any suggestions though, I'm not exactly an expert in this area :).

to recover lost Mac partition

recover lost files from re-partitioned hard drive This guide will teach you How do I recover lost files from re-partitioned hard drive(s).

Partition Table Doctor is the data recovery software for hard disk partition recovery, which is used to recover partition table and fix boot sector for hard disk. This versatile tool would automatically check and repair the master boot record, partition table, and the boot sector of the partition with an error, to recover the FAT16/FAT32/ NTFS/NTFS5/EXT2/EXT3/SWAP partition on various hard disk drives.
