Partitioning Removable Drives

I maintain the server and backup disks for the company I work for, and I have a question about the external HDDs that we are using. We currently have 6 disks (all are 80GB) we only use about 30GB of space for each backup. We backup daily, but we would like to keep a bi-weekly week-ending back up (two per month). Instead of haveing to buy another $80 HDD, would it be possible to make the weekly backup disk two partitions of 40GB so that the bi-weekly backup is on the same disk? If anyone has any information on how (or whether or not it is even possible) to partition a removable disk, I would greatly appreciate it. If you need anymore details, let me know.

The disks are WD Caviar 80GB and are running through USB 2.0.

Thanks,
Patrick M.

well, not sure i understand everything u wrote above, but
to create partition on removable disk u'll need partitioning software. it's easy in use, so hope no problem will appear while using it.
and report back about results please.
