Ok i have this laptop with 120GB hard drive but a whole partition. I want to cut it in half.
what software do i use ?

At the top of my head is Gparted and Partition magic but am not sure..
Both have proven successful on xp but am not sure of their compatibility with vista !!

please advise !!

thanks

You can do it in Vista without any third-party utilities - just go to Disk Management, righ-click the partition you want to make smaller and hit "Shrink Volume". It'll ask how much you want the drive to be shrinked; after you've done that, simply create a new partition. Easy.

EDIT: You know Disk Management can be found under Computer Management in Administrative Tools, right?

Another EDIT: Hey - I just realised I have a second postcount bar with a blue...thingy. Now how cool is that :P? And all without post whoring.

Well, it makes organizing your files a lot easier. Kinda like having folders. Having all your stuff in one places would be a mess... also, if you want to dual-boot with another OS or something like that, you'll need separate partitions.
