Hey, I was thinking of installing windows XP soon so I was wondering if I could Keep windows in C, then put everything that I want to keep in a partition.. And when i uninstalled windows XP then reinstalled it would the partition still be there?

From what you are asking there would be the creation of a second partition for storage. Even if you install XP to a second instead of first primary type partition it will see itself as C when it is running on a single drive system. The first partition can be reformatted without touching a second used for storage as well as simply allowing the XP installer to delete the first copy of Windows.

With an empty drive with nothing on it you can use the XP installer to create the first primary for Windows to go onto. Once XP is up and running the Disk Management tool can be used to create a second storage partition and see that formatted. For resizing or moving a partition you would then need a separate drive partitioning program/tool.
