Ok i'm building my first gaming computer! Nothing to hardcore mainly building it so i can play Empire Total War and upgrade it every couple paychecks! I just need help on picking out the parts... My budget is high 400's to mid 500's THAT'S JUST A START!!! I know i'm not gonna be playing all the really really nice graphical games...

Empire Total War System Requirements...
Supported OS: Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista™
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel® Pentium® or greater or AMD® Athlon® equivalent CPU
Memory: 1 GB RAM (XP,) 2 GB RAM (Vista™)
Graphics: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible hardware accelerated video card with shader version 2.0 support, 256 MB video memory
Display: Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels
Sound: Directx9.0c compatible sound card
Hard Drive: 15 GB free hard disk space formatted as NTFS
Peripherals: Windows compatible mouse and keyboard

As far as what i have... i got a GeForce FX5200 DDR 256MB Video Card
and also an 80G Maxtor Hard drive.. Now are these work re-using?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

I might get torn up for suggesting this pre-built, but here it is anyways:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103233

Core 2 Quad Q8300(2.5GHz)
4GB DDR2 800
750GB SATA 7200RPM
16X DVD±R/RW SuperMulti Drive
Integrated NVIDIA GeForce 7100 Graphics
High Definition Audio with 5.1-Channel Audio Support
10/100/1000Mbps
PSU 220W
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

My advice is:
1)buy this
2) replace PSU, I use Corsair 550W (~$50-80)
3) buy VideoCard ($100-200)

This should be within your budget/upgrades and you get a decent setup for the money. I'm basing this on what you said "I know i'm not gonna be playing all the really really nice graphical games..."

if you're not too concerned about going high-end, the generic mobo and Ram should be fine.

Good luck!

Don't think that processor is the same socket as the MOBO..someone correct me if I'm wrong

Good catch Sluggo

Mobo & CPU must match (AM2, AM3, etc.)

Also, confirm that RAM (DDR2 or DDR3) is supported by the mobo... I think you've selected DDR2 RAM with a DDR3 mobo

The Processor in Stoic Sentinel link it better.

But I would go with this board and memory.

Get a Seagate 7200.12 drive.

If your planing on using the power supply that comes with the case (dont) junk. You would be better off getting a lowerend Antec/NZXT or Cooler Master case with another power supply.

This is kinda a budget build...

Ok graphics card!!! What kind of graphics card? My budget is around 500 w/ shipping and handling (For entire build not just the graphics card alone)
