Hi All
Just joined the forum. I've got a labtop / password problem. The labtop is a Dell Inspiron 6400 with Vista. It's about 3 years old. I've always had a password on it (which is requested about 15 seconds after turning labtop on).
Last night my other half was trying to create a "password" for an individual folder on the desktop which has some important information in it. I was with her when she was doing it, she right-clicked on the folder and went into "security" but neither of us could work it out.
However, now we can't even get on the laptop
as my previous password doesn't work
which is strange as i think the most she done was "un-check" a box on the security tab or something, she definitly didn't type in any new passwords
Now i am left with a labtop i can't access and i can't find any original disks with the labtop to re-install anything, am i screwed?
When i type in the original password and it doesn't work a little prompt comes up saying "reset password" but if i click on that it says "the feature requires removable media such as a floppy disk or connect a USB flash drive and then try again"
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions here
Alex
