password protected!

Hi all,
Just found this site and was hoping you may be able to help. A friend has asked me to look at her late husbands laptop as his user account is password protected and the only other account on it is his daughters which is a limited account. She wants me to remove / edit his account to access the files as she doesnt know the pasword. any ideas on accessing/saving the data before resorting to reinstalling windows xp?
