I guessing the password for yours in the bios is admin.
Try that. Unless ya changed it. Else you would have to take out the battery for a few minutes. been a long time. but a start. im talking about the bios only.

no wat i mean is when i start up it comes up with windows xp logo then to log in with the xp screen but asks for a password that she has changed and now forgotten when i go in bios to try and change the boot options it wont let me without the same password if u get me

changing the password in bios should be admin.
How in the blue moon do ya go from windows 7 to XP?
Was this a new installation?

hi,

You can reset your password using USB Drive or CD. the simplest method I know is to simply reset or delete the password using a 3MB open file source. You can use a USB Disk Drive (Pen Drive) or burn a bootable CD for this method. The method has been tested for windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 and all resulted in success. It will remove your password not recover. If you do not want to reset the password, you can recover it.

I have tried that basically situation is that wen I go into bios to do anything such as boot from disc it asks me to unlock it by typing my password for my admin account the password I don't know what can I do?

There is nothing you can do. You either know the BIOS password or don't. If you don't, then there is nothing you can do.

You can reset the BIOS or CMOS by using the jumpers on the board, that usually removes the password. It's worked for me in the past when I've been given old machines from schools which have had BIOS passwords.

That should reset the password needed to access the BIOS, if you need to type a password as soon as the computer boots however, that won't work. :(

Doesn't work that way on laptops; especially Latitude's.

So she doesnt remember what the password is huh. I told my wife about this thread and gonna have her give some suggestions on what most young girls use as passwords, maybe it will help you come up with the password or jog your daughters memory to remember.

My suggestion

My husband asked me to give some suggestions on passwords of young girls. Depending on her age I would ask her several questions.

1. Ex boyfriend's full name/ New boyfriends full name
2. Best friends full name
3. Pets names

It will be something that she wanted to remember and something that was close to her. Women always set a password of something that is special or close to them (names, places, dates, etc...) I would try any of all these and it might also jog her memory as to what she set the password to. Also, get an idea of when she set the password...has it been 3 days, 3 months, 3 years??? If she says its been 3 months then ask who was your boyfriend 3 months ago, who was your best friend 3 months ago, etc. Remember young girls change best friends and boyfriends every week sometimes. Hope this helps.

thanks for all the replies people this has now been sorted but ill post what i did incase it can help anyone in future wat i had to do was go pcworld by an external 2.5 sata caddy and use my other laptop and format it to ntfs then on the laptop in question open bottom up and pull bios bat out for 20 mins to reset bios then it gave me option to boot from disc but still contained the unknown admin password for other features but that didnt matter so anyway replaced the newly formatted hdd back in and popped in windows 7 install disc and reinstalled it and worked a treat then went on motherboards website and flashed the bios and password was removed and laptop as good as new hope this helps someone in future in same/similar situation once again the guys thanks for reading and the helpful ideas :)
