can i paswoed my wireless internet so as only i can use it? i dont like the thought of other people using my wireless and downloading! thanks!

look in the manual...

basically you go into your router configuration page and go under wireless settings

I just had 2 computers hooked up wirelessly (is that a real word) to the net and it is a secured network. I had to pick a 10 digit password so only someone with that password can connect to my network.

there should be a page on your router's setup menu to enter the MAC addresses of each of the computers that should be allowed access to your network

you just type each one in, and then click 'restrict access only to those values listed' and you're set, no password needed

yup, anyone without a mac address you specify, can't connect to the network.

BTW just remember that you set a mac filter when you get a new computer, it can save you HOURS of trouble...

Yeah I had that, it's called "key 128" (referring to it's size I think 128bite).

But you know, unless you have a very powerfull wireless router and the nieighboor has a VERY powerfull receptor, you don't have to worry about that...:P

there is several ways of doing this. The most common is using a feature called "WEP" this should be an option built in to your router/access point, and is basicaly a password

Its easy to crack, but in less you are holding some sort of really important data, i wouldn't worries about it as no1 is going to bother trying to crack it. it will stop people from using your internet.
