I was playing around with my computer Registry Settings. I guess I had messed it up already. My computer do have 2 account, non of them is password protected. Now when I on the computer, the com will ask me for the administrator account password. I dun even know the password, I did not put any password on my com. Now I can only log in to the limited account but all my important data and information is in the admin account. The computer keep telling me this at the welcome screen:

The password is incorrect. Please retype your password. Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case.

Anyway I can login to my administrator account without knowing the password or view the files in that account?
Help me please...

re

do you remember the person who set up your PC in the first place..winxp and 2000 has that option to either use administrator password or not in their windows setup.

The only i can think of is to backup your data and format.

There is a command you can run in Windows XP, but im not quite sure if it will let you run it in a limited account.

Click on "Start" then click again on "Run"
In the box that is opened, type in "control userpasswords2" then hit enter.

Maybe this is what your looking for

Try to start in safe mode and do a system restore to a point prior to your "experiences" in the registry settings (just an idea...don't know if this will help...)

try putting 11111 or 00000 or aaaaaa things like that are common and i'm sure you have tried but try logging in with no password at all and if they dont work then go do a system restore to the prior date before you started playing just a little advice in the future if you dont know what your doing dont play in the registry its easy to mess up beyond repair and there are many free programs that will scan and remove registry values of older programs and things that no longer exist...

does't Work

Thanks for responding..
but still cannot work..
the computer always tell me the same thing when i do the system restore ''System Restore Failed'', last time i setup the PC on my own but i forgot the master password already. I had tried all ways..but non of them work..

How to i back up when i am in the Limited Account?
i can't even view admin file in my
Limited account..help please...

on some mobos you can reset the Bios, look for a pin selector on the mobo, or google (your motherboard's name) bios reset pin

Hmm, I have no clue on what to do, so your basically locked out of your system? or can you at least get on one account? If so you can/should be able to change passwords or remove them through user settings.

i can log in to my limited account but how do i change password in there?

Try this, turn it off, open the case up, and than look for a pin selector(like the ones on a HDD) than there should be 3 pins and it should be one 2 of them, pull that off than put it on the 2 that it wasn't on, than pull it off again and put it on the 2 that it was originally on. I have yet to see any mobos without the pin selector I'm talking about, so odds are that it will work. Than after it boots make sure everything in the bios is good, doing this resets the BIOs and therefor resets the password.

sigh... its the old story.. ohh i have done something XYZ to my machine and now it asking me for a password... please help me.
Firstly, windows does not store its passwords in the registry.
Second, it does not store the passwords in any file which you can access through the OS
My guess is your lying and trying to find the password to someone else account. The circumstances just dont sound probable, or even possible.
No-one here will help you hack these account, and i doubt most would have the skill anyway (thats a reflection of the complexity of the task not the competency of our user base).

@bamhm182: A bios flash will do nothing, and since i doubt this is his machine , i doubt he would be willing to do it :)

and to others who would seek to help this chap hack an account, perhaps we could see out new infraction feature implimented

oh, okay, I thought it would because I was reading my dad's computer's manual and it said that in order to erase the password, to remove the pin selector and then put it back on or something like that.

That would be the BIOS password. I take it you are looking for a solution for a Windows password problem.

ahh...thanks for the respond but if u think i am lying then well...i think i dun need ur help..i think i will juz try to reset my motherboard, if not i got to format computer, wat to do? ur all not really helping..

If my idea works I'm going to lmao. and dude, we're trying to help. Just try to reset the bios and post if that works. and if your asking for our help, than aparently you do need it. But whatever, be like that.
