Password!!!

Your original post said you were prompted for a password to enter Windows. If you are trying to reset your BIOS password, almost assuredly it will have no effect on your stated problem. You have to reset your Windows password. Two entirely different passwords. Good luck.
 
To reset your forgotten XP password:

Reboot PC and press F8 till you see the windows start-up option
Use the arrow keys to select safe mode
press enter
when you see the administrator screen, select the administrator account (a hidden account that by default needs no password)
Follow steps thru control panel to reset the password for the account with the forgotten password

At the Welcome Screen Do ALT CTRL DELETE at The Same Time. Then as The Username type:- Administrator and Leave the Password Box Blank and Click OK.

As soon as the computer is on go on control panel<user accounts and create an administrator account called back up. incase u forget any passwords again!!! lol:D :D :D :D :D :D
