Forum rules 1 & 2:
1. Posting/discussion about software cracks, serial no's, and illegal downloading and duplication of software is prohibited.
2. Discussions which actively encourage illegal hacking/malicious harm to computers/networks is prohibited (this includes discussion surrounding use of proxy servers)

the rules do not expressly say anything about passwords, but it could be implyed. therefore, the only thing i will say is...google it.

i think you're being a bit rediclious, perhaps he bought the laptop off of someone or got it for free and simply wants to be able to use it. I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt. People seem to be getting more and more stingy about the rules around here just because they want to act like police. I'm not trying to promote hacking but there is such a thing as logical hacking to help find security vunerabilities and such. I agree such a topic should not be discussed here because people would find and use the information for things other than what it should really be used for. Lets face it though, sometimes people get themselves locked out of their computers, it's embarrassing but it does happen. So lets start by trying to figure out what password it is. Is it the windows password or is it the system password set in the bios?

Press Ctrl+Alt+F4+Del Then throw it out the window. You should have no trouble getting in.

Windows 98 press Esc..
Newer Windows.. Try using administrator with no password. 90% of the time it will work.

lol, beaking things always makes me feel better. but see, it just doesn't work so well if you live in a 1 story house.

I dissagree. I can think of no valid reason why someone wouldnt know the password to their own machine. If they bought a laptop and didnt check it out first or dont have the contact details of the vendor to get the password well thats too bad. They will know better for next time.
There are loads of sites that will discuss ways to get round passwords and the day CF becomes one of them is the day I retire....which isnt today :)
