Paying Best Buy to set up laptop? Spill on laptop?

I am clueless about computers and my last laptop I had Best Buy do the set up and if I recall it cost 100 to do. I am going to be purchasing a new laptop and am just going to need the internet and virus protection. Would I be able to do this on my own easily?

My other question is yesterday on my asus laptop I spilled coffee on the keyboard. It was not that much so wiped it off and closed it. Then it was not working yesterday and I have what looks like a water spot on the screen. Right now it is working but the water spot is on the screen still. I called Best Buy about fixing it but they said they don't and to call Asus which I did and they said to send it in and they will give me a quote of price since it is over a year old and not in warranty. Is this my best option or are there local places that do this for better rate and quicker? Is this fixable or the price is going to be so high?
Thank you for your help

All you do is give best buy your money to have them set it up, its a waste. It don't need setup unless you are an absolute noob to computers. Usually when coffee is spilled on a laptop, its basically game over but since you said it was only a little bit, it may be salvageable. Contact any of your local computer repair facilities and ask them if they repair liquid damage to laptops, explain that it is coffee. To have asus fix it, would be an arm and a leg or they could tell you, its not repairable so you buy a new one. It has a water spot on the screen? Did any coffee get on it? Could have done damage to outside of the lcd screen which means the screen needs replaced. Most likely the laptop will have to be torn down and thoroughly cleaned and thend diagnosed for any internal damage.

answer to first question is yes you can do yourself.
2nd is different. Ive seen in the past about replacing screen and where. Might not be easy to do. use the search function and query and hunt. Taking a laptop apart is not easy. that has been my experience. had a hard time figuring out how to take apart let alone put every single part back in where it belong. Screws for example. can be done though.

Thank you for your help. That is what I thought about the Best Buy set up. Esepcially since i just want internet and virus. The laptop I spilled is working right now so maybe it is ok but the water spot is on the screen. The asus help said it may be from when I closed the screen onto the key board where it spilled. I did not even think to not. Ugh I guess I will wait to see what happens. Thank you again

If you spilled water or coffee i suggest you not use it until it thoroughly dries out. may take several days. Your lucky if its working. external screen may be in order also.
