PC boots, then dies, then boots up fine...

Got a problem, it's been happening since yesterday. OK so I power up my PC, it runs for about 5-10 seconds but I get nothing on the screen, then it dies, and then it boots itself up about a second or two later and runs perfectly fine. What could be the cause of this? Could it be my overclock is too high or something (4.5GHz for a 2500K?) I will lower my overclock to 4.0GHz and see if it makes a difference, but in the mean time, does anybody have else have any ideas as to why I'm getting these problems? System spec is in my signature. Thanks.

When you say the PC "dies", does it just go quiet or does it reboot?

If it goes quiet, I have found this reasonably standard with Asus boards, give it about 3 seconds and it bursts into life again.

Wouldnt say there is anything to worry about.

When it say "it dies" I mean it will completely turn itself off for several seconds, then burst into life. Like this:

Press power button -> PC turns on -> Stays on for 5-10 seconds -> Shuts down -> Stays off for 1-3 seconds -> Starts up again -> Windows boots as normal.

Yeah I remember hearing about this problem with the old P5 boards, somebody said if they lowered their overclock then the problem went away. That was on a Core 2 Quad Q6600 with a P5 board, maybe the same applies for a 2500K and a P8Z68 board? I reset the BIOS back to default and got rid off my overclock to see if the problem persists. Prior to this board, I had an ASUS P7P55D-E with an i5 760 and didn't have this problem, but I never overclocked my 760.

Yes your board is simply not stable at those overclocks. You need to up the voltage on RAM, CPU etc or lower overclock.
 
I've just reset it back to default and it seems fine now. Before my CPU was 1.3v, should I go up to 1.350v? And my RAM was at 1.5v, what should that have been? Would this have damaged anything?
 
Right OK so should I just leave it at the default 3.3GHz for now and see if it runs properly for a week or two and then maybe think about overclocking again later?

When I do overclock again, should I just change the multiplier and voltage or are there other things I need to change? I used this video as a guide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMZoWOpry40

So I get better performance when I encode/render video and run virtual machines...
