Why does my pc when I boot it shows the boot screen and when it detects my hard drive and other operations asks me to press any key and if I press any key It starts the Operating system.Does it usually go automatically to the operating system or maybe the custom built computers do this.Let me know.

P.S. I built the computer

Usually what happens is that the boot process halts on certain errors. Check to see of there is an event log option in the bios to see if it will tell you. If not, your gonna have to dig deep to find whats going on. It shouldn't give you that error unless something is wrong.

There is no error it just wants you to press any key when it finds my hard drive and goes right into the operating system.

Try setting you harddrive as 1st. in your boot order.

Yeah, it might have your cd booting up first...

This is a shot in the dark since I have no clue what this does but, could it be a boot.ini problem?

EDIT:

This is a sample of a default Boot.ini file from a Windows XP Professional computer.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

This is a sample of the above Boot.ini file with a previous installation of Windows 2000 on a separate partition.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

At the command prompt, type: bootcfg /timeout# Where # specifies the time in seconds after which default operating system will be loaded.

(I have no clue if this will help at all. I'm pretty sure it won't. But at least I'll feel good trying to help you. It's the thought that counts. lol
