Hi im new to the forum, so a big hello.:)
I am currently building my first pc, i am not a gamer, i just want a fast pc for you tube, streaming football, and so on. i have bought a ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 and a AMD 4350 BLACK EDITION what ever that means. so now i need some compatible parts around 16gb ram but not sure what speed to buy or type same with the power unit and hard drive, i need about a tb hdd any help would be great im just lost there are that many part numbers im sure i will buy the wrong parts.:o

Code:
ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Memory

  • Slots = 4
  • Standard = DDR3 2133(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066
  • Max Supported = 32GB
  • Channel Support = Dual Channel

Any 240-pin, DDR3 memory chip 2133, 1866, 1600, 1333, 1066 will be compatible with your mobo.

Example of a compatible set: G.SKILL Value 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C11D-16GNT

OR

CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10R

It's nice to see someone making use of older processing technologies though. So many good, cheap ones that go to waste...have faith in yourself brother. You can do it. :)

EDIT: Check out Fry's Electronics online. Originally they only sold refurbished components on the super-cheap and they never had online ordering as an option - now they do.

that is what i would go for. unless your going to use the 16gb RAM then its pointless, it wont make the pc any faster and if you just want it for watching youtube, movies and streaming tv 4gb will be perfectly fine.

A single stick of 4 GB isn't enough for most builds. Plus you'd lose some performance not having dual channel, although agreed it wouldn't be noticeable in most cases.

Not sure about the OP but I cannot survive on my work PC with just 4 GB doing strictly productivity tasks.
