PC Build - Compatible Parts?

Putting it shortly, I've decided to build my own computer (and yes I do have experience). And I have selected all the hardware I want. I've also checked them all out and from what I can see they seem compatible, I would just like some others to double check for me. If you could let me know, that would be great. Thanks.

I don't really have a set budget. All of it including the motherboard, processor, hard drive, ram, monitor disc drive, and speakers comes out to about $548. The case and video card are currently unavailable on Tigerdirect and Newegg probably because they're out of them. I'll have to factor those in later. So the price isn't terrible.

What is it that you would advise against?
 
If you want to stick with the C2D then go for this mobo:
Gigabyte GA-G41MT-ES2L Intel G41
And get 2x2GB sticks of DDR3 1600MHz for the RAM, should only cost around £10 more.
But if you were willing to change your CPU to a socket 1156 one, then You could get an i3/i5, that would be alot faster. I assume you're not bothered about DX11? I would get a GTS250, or for decent DX11, a 5670. HDD is good value.
PSU?
Have you already ordered/reserved these parts? Because if you haven't, I would drop the intel altogether and go for an AM3 setup. The mobos are cheap and for the price of your CPU, you could get a fast AMD quad-core (think X4 620?)

I do like the looks of that MoBo (GIGABYTE GA-G41MT-ES2L LGA 775 Intel G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard) Quite the good price too. Although based on reading the reviews it seems as if it runs okay when you leave it with its factory settings, but when you try to OC anything at all it gets sketchy. But i would like a MoBo that supports DDR3.

I agree on the HDD, good price.

A buddy of mine is going to give me his old power supply which we checked out an should work. And yes, I need to start reserving some of these. (Which reminds me, I also need to pre-order Reach)

AMD/AM3 = ?
 
Sorry, I Wasn't really clear. AM3 is a CPU socket manufactured by AMD, [Advanced Micro Devices] which are a company that makes CPUs and GPUs (GPU being a graphics card)
Socket LGA 1156 is an intel socket, the LGA means land grid array, don't worry about that, all it means is that there are 1156 little pins connecting the CPU to the Mobo.
The GTS250 is a GPU made by nVidia, a rival to ATi (AMD's GPU's) the HD 5670 is made by ATi. DX11 is DirectX 11, a technology developed by Microsoft that enables lots of fancy GPU features e.g. shader models, rendering, and generally making gaming look prettier. DX11 is the newest version of DirectX. The GTS250 is faster in terms of Raw performance, but it lacks DX11 support. That shouldn't be too much of a problem ATM, as not many games are coming out in DX11, but more and more are having DX11 modes :)

Ooh thank you. That was actually incredibly helpful. I'm aware of what DirectX is, I just didn't put 2 and 2 together and realize DX11 was DirectX.

Anyways, so if you were in my shoes, what would you do concerning the MoBo/CPU and probably GPU as well?
 
I would get
Mobo:
Asus M4A78LT-M AMD 760G (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
CPU:
AMD Athlon II X4-630 processor (still a bit cheaper than the E7500, at least as good in games/benchmarks)
GPU:
XFX Radeon HD 5670 Graphics - 512 MB - GDDR5 SDRAM (It's GDDR5, that will more than make up for the less Graphics Memory - much quicker)
