PC card fails to be recognized

Windows XP home; HP pavillion.

Worked perfectly up to now, but now the laptop will not recognize the pc card when placed in the computer or on restart.

Under hardware on system, no errors detected but neither is the card.

Tried over and over to erase then reinstall the D-link software, but nothing lights up on the card and of course no internet connection.

Have you tried another card in the slot, or another computer with the card? Kind of sounds like a hardware issue... Either bad card or bad port...
