PC Fix It

My main PC has the usual PC problems. Nothing major, just a head cold. So I get all these PC fix my computer whatever advertisements like everyone else, so I use their software because it's free and it fixes 6 items and tells me if I want to fix other 1500 items buy our software. I use anti-virus and malware software and of course a firewall. So would it do me any good to get a software that tunes up your PC and if so which one? If anything goes wrong I can always do a roll back or put back my backup image. I never bothered to use any such software but in this day and age I figure I'll ask for advise?

Just post symptoms and get advise here on how to correct them.

The only software that I use on my computer is Avast free version, Malwarebytes, and CCleaner. And I defrag my computer once a week. Those other programs that you talk about, to me are adware programs to take your money and hardly do anything for you.
But, that is my opinion. And I haven't had a virus for over 2 yrs now. I also have a ad blocker in my browsers, like the one I have now is called "Simple Ad Blocker" and another program for my browsers called "DoNotTrackMe", this is where 3rd party companies are tracking you through other sites like Facebook and Cnet and many others.

Defragging once a week? I wouldn't ever really bother defragging, I never found it made a lot of difference. Shouldn't really be defragging SSDs anyway.

Those pieces of software which claim to 'tune up' your PC and enhance your performance don't really do anything. What sort of problems are you getting anyway?

It is only my Seagate 1 tb that I defrag. Not the SSD.
And sometimes and do it once a month. Mostly when I'm bored is when I do it.

Those programs normally are trying to sell your registry cleaners. CCleaner does just that and it's completely free. Try running that and see if it helps.

Look that software is clearly rubbish. It simply says are you different to windows 7 you need to upgrade. Stupid coding.

I would be definitely getting John to check your malware status with you. Btw PC Pitstop sounds dodgy as. I would get rid of that.

But if it were me, id be reinstalling Windows and starting from fresh.

I played with a few of those so called PC fix sites as the previous pic shows one.
They were all run just after a fresh install and every one of them found numerous so called problems with my PC.

Yeah, all those pc fix it programs are junk... DO NOT install them. It's safe to not even run a registry cleaner as sometimes they cause more issues then anything. The performance increase you may get from a registry cleaner is very miniscule, not worth so why take a chance on screwing up your system?

I've been using computers for over 20 years and I never used one of those so called PC tune ups. That's why I posted the question because as times changes I thought that someone might come up with something that's good. Now my question is would CCleaner be worth using?

I put CCleaner on my computer and it put a ton of garbage on my PC, change my Home Page and wanted to delete things I need, it look like a mess to me so I deleted it and I still have all kinds of crap that it left on so I had to delete 3 or 4 programs I don't want after CCleaner was uninstalled. All software has tons of unwanted software and they sneak it on your PC weather you want it or not. But thanks for your input.

Then you didn't get ccleaner from piriform or filehippo. You have to watch where you get it and opt out of any additional software that comes with it.

what i liked about it was the reason it was the safest. Used for years. Have used others and will shut you down. I was just thinking some will or might dig a little to deep.
Never had a problem with CCleaner. considered safe.
