Pc Games That Will Or Won't On Vista?

good post and it will help alot of people out.

ive ran the games below on vista no problem

Warrock
Flatout 2

havnt realy tested any more on it yet.

The one game I missed in the opening here that should be included in the "failed" list is Metal of Honor: Allied Assault. I would have to reinstall the game itself to capture the exact error message seen when going to run the game. The installation went well but...? as soon as the error popup message came up there was no trace of any active processes seen for it in the task manager. Incompatable with Vista? or something else like a need for a patch? Those things will be updated when the info is found on this.

Include on that list World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (I had issues with Addons however), Age of Empires III, and Sim City 4 Deluxe.

I have Vista and I'll help out I will install a bunch of games when I get the chance but I have been very busy lately and I have only been able to install 1 game on it and it was CS Source and it ran fine.

Sometimes the compatibility lists can throw you off. What will be the "most helpful" here and available for the compatibilty thread will be actual use with good results with many compared to those were problems are seen. We'll have to compare results later when seeing the responses here to those you see in the lists there.

One thing to add to this is the variables? Sometimes a game or other program will run like a champ on one system while failing on another. Softwares especially games have always been the hardest to deal with when these problems come up.

When you see the games that run good on many Vista systems that's when you will have those to add to the compatibilty list seen there. In a sense we have to perform the benchmarking here while the final results go there. :D

All of the games I have are for xp and up work on vista just fine.

Medieval 2 TW
Oblivion
HL2
CSS
AOE3
COH
GRAW

My feeling is that if it is good for xp, vista should be ok..

Although gaming stores make no guarantees..

The best idea is to get all the Vista gamers to comment on the success or  stories they have had with various games. The best games to update the Vista compatibilty thread are those games seeing the best results. First we have to kind of share notes on what is seen on various systems with all of the different hardware/software environment.

Like HL2"s Episode One here initially saw crashes at two exact same spots while still using the Creative beta drivers for sound but has improved since. Anyone with a different sound card running EP1? Feel free to add your experience here. Then apj101 and DCIScouts will be able to update the other thread. ;) One way to help is adding a little not a great amount but enough detail to show the type of good or  results seen with each game. The EP1 experience here was with beta not the full version of a new driver set there.

OK ,ill update mine with new games i get

Spider Man 3
World of Warcraft + World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade
Red Faction 1
Galcon
Unreal Tournament 2004
Break Quest
Command and Conquer 3
Prey
Warcraft III + Warcraft III:The Frozen Throne
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Doom 3 + Doom 3: Resurrection Of Evil
Quake 4

All the games above worked with no issues at all, incuding the WoW Mods (to whoever mentioned that before)

Prey, Fear and it's expansion pack have been a success story while Steam has been seeing problems in XP as well as the sound problems in Vista. The crashes initially seen in a few spots in EP1 have disappeared on the other hand. The problems with HL2 will disappear fast pointing it as otherwise good. While Metal of Honor: Allied Assault woudn't even install the surprise was seeing many older games go right on like Soldier of Fortune, Return to CastleWolfenstein, and some other classics.

Halo, works fine.
Halo2, works fine (;)).
Global operations, works fine.
Srcds, Supposed to work, but I have had no success, but I need more time to mess around with it.
