Pc Games That Will Or Won't On Vista?

Guys most steam games work like HL2 EP2 works and same with counter-strike source. You should add those games to the 100% work list and if u wanna see a lot of games that work on vista go to youtube.com search maxishine the guys has likea quad core pc and 8800GTX"S runing in sli with a 30" mac screen with vista look at all of his vid's there pretty good he plays many games... check it out you might find some things to add to that list..

Have a link? That will save time browsing through the catagories there. Steam itself generally sees regular updates. The main problems seen here initially was with the sound drivers by Creative not being out. But that's typical when any new Windows versions comes out. XP saw a wait too.

It helps only if you subscribe to maxshine's videos. But if you are not subscribing? All that showed was that he has several videos. But that goes off track from finding out what games will or won't run on a Vista machine.

Halo 1
Warrock
FEAR

these work aswell, dunno if they have been mentioned before? :)
im just listing them as i try them :D

Prey, Fear and it's expansion pack have been a success story while Steam has been seeing problems in XP as well as the sound problems in Vista. The crashes initially seen in a few spots in EP1 have disappeared on the other hand. The problems with HL2 will disappear fast pointing it as otherwise good. While Metal of Honor: Allied Assault woudn't even install the surprise was seeing many older games go right on like Soldier of Fortune, Return to CastleWolfenstein, and some other classics.

Fear and Prey along with HL1, HL2, and some old games were covered. :D I just decided against installing Halo on Vista. Metal of Honor was a little more disappointing however. But it's a new Windows!

One thing that just confirmed that HL2 and the soon to come Episode Two was seen in the latest Steam update showing some screens from the conclusion of the HL2 series. A look at the hangar, Citadel, and even Gman concepts can seen at the links here.

Right now, we're working hard on putting the final parts of Episode Two together. Early on during development we spent a lot of time working on concept art of key areas of the game, so that everyone on the team could share a vision of what the final game would look like. The three pieces below are some examples of that work. Once the game is released you'll be able to see how these concept pieces were eventually turned into the final product.

how about u save headaches, and get Vista wen everythings compatible? :D..sounds pretty good 2 me

good idea...I knew vista was going to be like this any time Microsoft releases some new OS it always has problems until they improve it with tons of patches and updates. Right now its pretty much just as good as Wine for Linux except Linux and Wine is free!

I have to disagree completely with you, i have used Vista since its release and have found it the most easy to upgrade to and use version of Windows yet, i have had no issues wit hany games, drivers or software at all so far and the OS itself is just amazing :)

you got it when it first came out how much did that cost you ??

a bit of a waste of money when you dont need it and it just eats ram
i mean XP still works just fine an its not like you have a direct x 10 gpu ether

It's easier to update when the updates are available. I've had few issues with HL2 and EP1 with the sound driver situation by Creative. And of course with every new version of Windows you need newer versions or replacements of many softwares. Surprisingly the older games have done the best so far.

If you are going by how games ran in the beta versions you would be way off base there. The betas are just that "for evaluation only". Those are incomplete versions of any OS or software. Vista does offer more features like the new User Account Control where the added security sees a few more startups. But it has better self repair tools now seen.

The two main drawbacks are no recovery console for manual repair and no add/remove Windows compoents option seen in the add/remove programs section. The lack of drivers for hardwares(some) as well as software patches is typically seen when any new OS first comes out.

GUYS,

PLEASE post this in the "Vista Software Compatibility thread" located in the "General Software" subforum, so I can add it to the list currently compiled.

Thanks!
