PC Given To Me

Hello All,
Got another ? for you. I was just given a Compaq Presario with an AMD Athlon 64, 3800+ processor and 2GB RAM. As my guest or spare PC, I currently have an old Dell Optiplex GX240 with a P4 running at 2.0GHz. I'm thinking I may use this Compaq as my guest PC to replace my current Dell.

Here's my question, which PC do you think will give me the best performance? I'll be honest....I know very, very. very little about AMD.

Any and all feedback greatly appreciated!
 
It would beat the pentium by a good amount, to begin with the 3800+ runs @2.4 Ghz(i think), and netburst architecture(p4) was very ineffecient compared to the athlons. Thats why the pentium m was based off the p3, the p4 took a step back from the p3. So its more than "just a little bit":p
 
Thanks for the info everyone. This PC is nice and it is brand new too. I'll take a free PC!! It is great as a guest PC. I just looked on newegg and this AMD processor is $29.99.....LOL.
 
yeh the price you can get parts for these days-(not the high end stuff lol)

if you want a computer for surfing the web you could build one for dirt cheap
