Every now and then on my Desktop my Folders are there but the some of the words in the names go away.

And if I put my mouse over it the names and all the words come back.

And some times when I go to save a file the folder will be blank until I put my mouse on it.

And if windows gives me a Box with a worning in it. The text wont be there at all.?????????????

my cpu is athlone 64 Bit amd
I have 3. GB DDR 2. RAM

It just started to day and I think it was my Panda Virus program.
I removed it because it was not working right and Locked up a lot.

I got AVG and I am running a scan now.

If you have a warm virus how do you get rid of them??

I read that worms stay on the hard drive even after re formatting??????????
What are they and how do you get rid of them?
 
I would download the Ccleaner program and use it to clean your system up. You can download the latest version here:

Then I would try defragmenting your hard drive after you run Ccleaner. If that doesn't help we can look at other things.

If you reformat your hard drive it almost always cleans everything out of your system unless your data backups contain malicious software that would then be re introduced.

I did CCleaner and Defrag and CHKDSK
Then I updated and ran AVG

all is well but every now and then folders go blank the names go away or if I minimize a program and it goes to the taskBar it will show up in there with no name on it.

Or Blatchy untill I move my mouse over it
 
I remember I had computers that used to do what you are saying happens on your system. I think it was lack of processing power from the hardware. Is the Athlon processor in your system a single-core or a dual-core?

I have a Dual Core AMD Athlone 64 Bit and 3. GB of DDR 2 RAM.

It will leave the name of the folder out untill I move the mose over it or click it.

And if I go to save a file say from wordpad or a program and I click save in and the list dropsdown.

I can read and see every folrder in the list but say Desktop or any other at a time may be Blank and just the word will show.

Do you have another storage device where you can backup all your valued data? You want to do that first. Then after you back up data to a separate storage device I would try a System Restore with Windows back to a past date. Go as far back as you can.

If that doesn't help you might want to consider a new clean installation of Windows.
