PC Lags during 'offline' Gameplay

I have noticed that my computer lags quite a bit during offline gameplay. The games which lag most include Fall Out 3, Sims 3, Far Cry 2...pretty much games made in the past year or two. It seems a bit strange as my PC is fairly new:
CPU: AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.11ghz
Ram: 3gb
Graphics: Geforce 9500GT 1gb
Operating System: Windows XP SP2

I have also been playing these games at their lowest possible settings.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

After a quick Google I came upon this website, it has to do with you processor (AMD Dual cores) he says go to this link http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/dyn...cd2c08-1432-4756-aafa-4d9dc646342f&ItemID=153 and download that program. did u virus scan check for virus, spyware, malware etc? could be possible

Yer the pc is clean. The internet and all other software runs really quickly, no problems. I've just updated my graphics driver so i'll see how things go.

You do know that the 9500 graphics card isnt exactly a powerhouse,Its not realy intended for gaming at all.

I think thats causing your lag issues.....id consider an upgrade

Still, he's not trying to run games like Crysis, my 8500gt could handle Farcry 2 on medium.

have you checked your sytem temps?
