pc miler type software

ok, first off, i hate mapquest
the directions on there are not worth the paper that you print them out on.
my cousin is a trucker, and has this pc miler program. which i thought was a very good program. only problem is, it's designed for truckers.
i was wondering if there is some kind of program out there that is similar that is designed more for regular vehicles. and also designed for US roads and such.
i take a lot of trips and go a lot of places that i have to look up directions for, and i would just like to find some kind of software to use for that rather then having to take the leap of faith and use mapquest

maybe i forgot to mention this, but is there a version of this that works for the us? all i seem to be able to find is for europe and stuff
 
i assumed it would have US content as its made by microsoft, im from the UK so i cant say if there is a separate version for the US or not

oh. it's by microsoft. i couldn't find that one...maybe i was just loking at the wrong spots.
