PC optimizer software - looking for reviews.

I had a question About software for PC Optimization. There is a lot of it on the internet and a lot of opinions about it.
I wanted to try something like that out myself to see the results, but could not find anything worth the attantion
I was wondering if any of the members here have read(or maybe written) some comprehensive reviews on PC tuning software?
 
What Operating System are we talking about? Windows? You can use the built in tools to optimize windows for the most part. Some people go with third party defraggers but that is about the extent of I think you need. Maybe that and CC Cleaner, and if you use too much of that stuff I think it makes the system convoluted.
 
I have used Auslogics BoostSpeed - but it's not free. a lot of ther stuff in there you can do from windows anyway, but i did use the registry scan and defrag, along with the regular disk defrag very often.
