hy there , i am a new member and i have a huge problem.

I own a pc with these configurations :
Video card : Asus EN9800GTX+
CPU : q6600 2.4ghz
RAM : 2 GB DDR 2 1000
Motherboard : P5kpl-AM
O.S. : Windows xp sp 2
Source : Thermaltake 600W Extreme

I have the following problem : When i play a game with high-graphics ( like crysis , GTA 4 HD , Anno 1401 , Blacksite 51 etc. ) , my computer shuts down itself . To turn it on , i need to cut the power supply by presing the source button , and then turn it on again .

I watched my temperature and these are the following measures :
Video card : 51-55 C with 90-100% fan speed
CPU : 60-69 C
Motherboard : burning like hell , burning my fingers if i tuch it directly .

I have spoken with many support members , but none of them could help me . They say my motherboard doesn't deliver enought power to the cpu and video card .

Others say that my source is lame .
What should be the problem ? What should i do ?

I am wondering at the moment if i should buy ASUS P5P43TD-PRO or ASUS P5QL-PRO or ASUS P5Q-PRO or P5Q-SE2 ... Please help me .. fast :)

60 to 69c thats a bit warm for that cpu.it may be shutting down due to overheating would be my guess.what kinda cooler do you have on that cpu?have you considered reapplying thermal paste?600w should be able to handle that system fine.i have a q6600,and a gtx260 on a 600w psu with no problems.

i haven't reaplyed thermal paste . the cooler is a standard .

that might be the problem ??? i can buy a new cooler for my q6600 , it's about 50 euro and it's really big

what motherboard do you have ?

I recorded the core temps and at the moment of self-shut-down , the numbers were :
C1 = 67 C
C2 = 63 C
C3 = 65 C
C4 = 68 C

what should i do ? buy a new cooler and reaply the thermal paste ?

As long as the cpu isn't overclocked, the factory cooler should be fine. One thing you might want to look at is airflow of the case. Just a simple 1 fan in 1 fan out system should be fine, as the motherboard is burning up.

well let's se , i have 3 fans , 1 in , 1 trowing air to the cpu and 1 out .
but all of them are standard black little fans ...

what should i do to decrease the temperature of the motherboard ?

and for the overclock part , my cpu is set to automatic , that means that it will overclock itself when it is needed a HD-gameplay .

Those are some high temps. check your BIOS for "PC health status" becuase usually the default option is that when your CPU hits 70*C it will shut down your system. If you can change to something higher like 80*C if your BIOS permits. I would recommend an aftermarket cooler and some arctic silver 5 or something. IMO those temps are too high.

Like linkin93 said, most bios have the CPU temp set at 70c, when it hits 70c you will get a, get on your nerves bios beep or it will cause a shutdown/restart.

thanks guys , that is the problem . My motherboard doesn't have health status and it is standard mode ( that means when cpu reaches 70 C , it's shuts itself down ) .

I am buying a new motherboard and a new cpu cooler .
