Pc problem

I built my pc in 2008
Got a amd quad 9950
biostar motherboard
2gb ram in it
300 or 320gb diamondmax 21 hd
Xp

But now seems to have a problem me an dad fix pcs an we say its hardrive
cause every now an again the hardrive like will miss scan an it keeps moving windows components because of problems
Also the sound file kept disappering
but now pc is running slow an takes ages to load
On things like win media player it slurrs same on youtube an stuff
But used seagates test an says the hardrives a pass any help
i have zone alarm security which says no bugs
Alos have adaware and xoftspy both clear but according to Stopzilla there is a few virus in it an also malware program says clear
disk clean up doesnt help
Cannot really defrag because will take about 2 days to complete

It is possible your motherboard is defective. Have you tried using the program "MemTest86" to test the random access memory?
 
Download Linux Ubuntu Version 9.04 and burn it to DVD. Get the following version of Ubuntu:
"PC (Intel x86) desktop CD"

The Ubuntu download has the program Memtest86 with it. You can use it as a boot disk. I would run Memtest86 for about 7 hours straight to test the RAM in your system.
